How many people fit in a helicopter?
Our tour helicopter fleet consists of four passenger aircraft. We may arrange a five and six passenger helicopter at a premium charge. If interested in a five or six passenger aircraft please email email@example.com or call 877-902-9292, Ext. 1. It is common for large groups of 4+ passengers to split into smaller groups and fly in separate aircraft, allowing more in the group to sit in the co-pilot seat. The pilot makes final decision on seating arrangements based on weight distribution.
Can I change or cancel a reservation?
You are welcome to change your reservation online up to 48 hours in advance of the flight without incurring any fees. Between 24 and 48 hours in advance of the flight, your changes will incur a $50 change fee. Within 24 hours of your scheduled flight no changes may be made to your reservation.
Why am I asked for my weight to book a tour flight?
The helicopters are subject to weight and balance restrictions, so we must enforce a 250lb per seat limit; however you may purchase two seats if required.
It looks like rain today – is my flight still going?
A few drops shouldn’t keep you on the ground. That said, sightseeing flights won’t depart in heavy rains, thunderstorms, low visibility or other extreme weather conditions, so do keep an eye on the weather for the day of your flight. If you have any questions about weather delays or rescheduling, please feel free to give us a call for further information. In the face of such delays or schedule cancellations we will make every effort to reschedule your flight free of charge.
What happens if my flight is delayed?
There are a few conditions which would cause operational delays, including unfavorable weather, airspace closures, medical/EMS activity, and equipment irregularities. Vertiport Chicago and its operators reserve the right to upgrade, alter, or reschedule any sightseeing flights due to such conditions. If we cannot reschedule your flight for a time that works well, the amounts already paid will remain active on your account.
Is there parking available?
Absolutely – in addition to a parking lot, there is plenty of street parking available around Vertiport Chicago.
When should I arrive for my flight?
Passengers should arrive at least 40 minutes prior to their scheduled departure times. If you arrive within 40 minutes of your scheduled flight, we reserve the right to reschedule or change your reservation.
In the event passenger(s) are not present forty (40) minutes prior to the scheduled tour departure, the passengers’ seats may be released and used for other passengers. Once the seats are released the reservation is considered a no-show. There is no credit issued for no-show reservations.
Do I need to bring identification with me for the flight?
Yes, all passengers 16 and older must bring a valid, government-issued photo ID; US passengers may present a valid driver’s license while foreign passengers may present a valid passport. Passengers under 16 are not required to present identification; however, a parent or guardian must be present with them on the flight.
What is your policy on use of camera/video equipment and release of rights?
For safety precaution passengers are not allowed to use any photography or videography of any kind on tarmac/landing pad area. Passengers wishing to take/use cameras and/or other photographic equipment on the tour and after take-off do so entirely at their own risk. No flash photography permitted inside the helicopter. Passengers agree that by taking a helicopter tour and/or appearing in photos taken by Vertiport Chicago, Rotor Zen Helicopters or Elite Rotorcraft, they release the rights to Vertiport Chicago for use of those photos in promotional or marketing materials. Vertiport has the right to repost or share digital content taken during activity.
Are there any other restrictions for what I can bring on board or who can take a flight?
Bags, bulky jackets, and other personal items may be stored in our lockers during your flight, as you may not take these items on board with you.
Due to weight and balance restrictions for helicopters, we must strictly enforce a 250lb per seat limit, though you may purchase two seats if needed.
